「NEWS SPRING CONCERT TOUR 2006」Last Concert Report
On April 30th NEWS welcomed the final concert of its「NEWS SPRING CONCERT TOUR 2006」at Miyagi and Johnny’s Web also rushed to the concert site. We shall report the scene for you.
At the enthusiasm-filled concert hall, there was the ‘NEWS Call’ before the performance began. As if in response, NEWS appeared among the inflated fabric and white smoke! They walked back and forth in the concert hall during the opening act of ‘NEWS Nippon’, ‘Kibou~Yell~’, and ‘Akaku Moyuru Taiyou’. Koyama told the fans to “Be more and more excited!” and they responded with loud cheers!! In that spirit the audience was captured with the song and dance to ‘Fiesta’ and the new single ‘Sayaendou’. The concert hall quickly heated up, there was Call and Response with the audience, and the site Voltage quickly charged to the Max!
Next is the SUMMARY MEDLEY theme. There was Koyama dancing to ‘Aoi Inazuma’ as he swung a bright baton, Masuda’s fully energetic dance to ‘It’s BAD’, Nishikido’s lonely and poetic ‘Mihari’, Yamapi’s ‘Colorful’ with self-composed lyrics, and at the end all the members sang ‘HEAVEN’ on the main stage.
Following the Medley is the Solo Corner. Tegoshi gently performed ‘YOU～world is yours～’. After the quiet ballad, the tide turned and as the wadaiko (Japanese drum) sounded, Masuda’s happy figure devoted all his energy to singing “暁-AKATSUKI’ as he played the wadaiko. Next is Kato’s ‘HAPPY MUSIC’ as he wore a crown and played the guitar with his hands. Then to Yamapi’s lively dance started the cool dances to ‘I･ZA･NA･I･ZU･KI’ and ‘SHOCK ME’. After they further aroused the spirited concert hall with ‘NANDEx2 DAME’, it was time for the MC.
In the bus to Miyagi, the members continued to challenge the oogiri game that Yamapi & Nishikido & Tegoshi were addicted to. (Incidentally, the themes were ‘The Best Confession Line’ and ‘Words of Gratitude to Mothers’!) Also, the members wished Koyama, whose birthday is tomorrow, “Happy 22 Years Old!” He also received “Happy Birthday Kei-chan’ from the audience and a birthday song as a present!
The MC ended in this calm atmosphere. After singing ‘Yawaraka na Mama de’, Tegoshi sang Yamapi’s ‘LOVE SONG’. The end is the two’s duet…For that part, Nishikido also joined in and it was sang by 3 people. After Yamapi and Koyama, and Shige joined to replay a skit from ‘Kurosagi’ starring Yamapi and a lecture on the choreography, Yamapi performed the theme song ‘Daite Senorita’. With that intense dance ‘Devil or Angel’, “BEACH ANGEL’, and ‘TEPPEN’ were sung and danced. Then it was the Duet Medley. The song switched from intense songs to Masuda & Tegoshi’s heart-wrenching ballad ‘Sunadokei’, Koyama & Nishikido’s passionate ‘Romeo’, and working together for the first time to take on song composition, Yamapi & Kato’s ‘Road’. Next all the members sang ‘DREAMS’. When Nishikido switched the lyrics to ‘目の前にNEWSがいる 大丈夫だから信じて待ってて (NEWS is in front of your eyes. Everything is fine so please believe and wait.)’, there seemed to be weeping wails. Next up is Rock Medley and after vigorously singing ‘Koi Yake’, ‘Stand up’, ‘KIRA☆ROCK’, for the last song ‘Cherish’ Koyama yelled ‘Let’s dance together in the end!’ and the members on the stage and the audience in the concert hall danced as one.
After retreating from the stage, they immediately reappeared to the growing ‘NEWS Call’. ‘Yume no Kazu Dake Ai ga Umareru’ and ‘Hadashi no Cinderella Boy’ were performed. Again, when Kato switched the lyrics in ‘Sayanedou’ to ‘NEWSのことを信じてて！ｵﾏｴのことを愛してる (Please believe in NEWS! I Love You.)’, there were once again cheers from the audience.
To the echoing NEWS Call, the members appeared in the concert hall once more. Koyama said “Truly thank you very much! It’s NEWS’s last activity of the year. Perhaps everyone will be lonely but we will work hard for our solo projects!” The members then each reported his current and following activities. Then the member representative Koyama said “I think we want to earnestly accept one thing after another. So let’s meet next year!!” Yamapi also promised “There’s no breakup! We will have our own activities, become strong, and come back!”
With Masuda saying “Show us more smiles!” as he made weird faces with his hands and Tegoshi yelling to the audience “Be excited until you break!” as lead, the members performed ‘Kibou~Yell~’ and ‘NEWS Nippon’ in full smiles. At the end all the members held their hands tightly, and in response to Yamapi’s “We are NEWS!”, the concert hall erupted in loud cheers and applause. The members retreated backstage as they vigorously waved their hands and said “Let’s meet again next year!”
After today’s concert, NEWS as a group will enter a suspension period. The suspension period has been informed. The members promised on stage that there will still be many activities this year. There will be no NEWS breakup. During the group suspension period, the other members will be devoted to solo activities. Please continue to focus on the members with solo work!
